This is David Dow Snr who is the chief peat digger. The spade enables the blocks to be cut precisely and in a way which is envoronmentally sound.
Sphagnum Peat
Our own peat is hand cut the traditional way, dried then granulated. It is superb and has been supplied to growers, garden centres and gardeners for over 50 years.
Peat Blocks
These are hand cut in the traditional way and therefore environmentally sound. It would take another million years for us to dig it all! The blocks are approx. 15" x 5" x 5", but we can cut them to size. We have been supplying these to individuals, garden centres and organisations like Edinburgh's Botanic Gardens for years.
Please note that these blocks are for horticulture use and not for burning!
